Kyrgyzstan returned to State more than 100 hectares of land of former crime authority

In Kyrgyzstan, in the Issyk-Kul region, the state has reclaimed 115 hectares of land previously owned by Kamchi Kolbaev, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The national security authorities found that a Kyrgyz citizen entered into a lease agreement for 115 hectares of land (arable land) with the state enterprise "Center for the Development of Ethnoculture, Equestrian Sports Industry, Breeding of Pedigree Livestock" in March 2022.

"During investigative and operational measures, it was established that this citizen used plots of land totaling 80 hectares in the Grigoryevsky rural district and 35 hectares in the Semenovsky rural district of the Issyk-Kul region to cultivate fodder and engage in livestock farming. He maintained livestock for members of the criminal group led by Kamchi Kolbaev, providing them with material support," stated the department.

The GKNB has returned the specified 115 hectares of land in the Issyk-Kul region to the state revenue through the State Enterprise "Center for the Development of Ethnoculture, Equestrian Sports Industry, Breeding of Pedigree Livestock."

The criminal authority Kamchi Kolbaev was killed during his arrest in a shootout in the center of Bishkek in the summer of 2023. Subsequently, it was announced that more than 700 real estate properties, several dozens expensive cars owned by him, had been returned to the state. Also, facts of his involvement in the construction business in Kyrgyzstan were revealed. Owners of several major construction companies were detained for their connections with Kolbaev's criminal group. According to the GKNB of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of the identified wealth of Kolbaev is estimated to be at least $1 billion.
