Kyrgyzstan takes small and medium businesses under special protection

There are 16.9 thousand enterprises operating in Kyrgyzstan, including 15.9 thousand small and 1 thousand medium-sized ones. The highest concentration of small enterprises is observed in Bishkek (70.1%). The number of individual entrepreneurs exceeds 600 thousand, indicating growing entrepreneurial activity, according to the report of the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

These figures were announced at a government meeting in Kyrgyzstan dedicated to the support and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as financial institutions.

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev noted the steady growth of the Kyrgyz economy over the past three years, emphasizing that in the first half of 2025 GDP growth reached 11.7%, exceeding 711 billion soms. The SME sector plays an important role in this growth, accounting for 37% of GDP.

In order to further stimulate business development, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers issued a number of instructions aimed at supporting SMEs, including the development of existing support programs, expanding access to credit resources, and more.
