The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) has announced the release of a new silver collectible coin, "At Chabysh" (Horse racing), dedicated to the V World Nomad Games.

The coin will be put into circulation on August 1, 2024, one month before the games, which will take place from September 8 to 14 in Astana, reports NBKR.

"At Chabysh" translates from Kyrgyz as "horse racing" — a traditional sport of the Kyrgyz people, deeply rooted in their nomadic culture. It features thrilling long-distance horse races involving the fastest and most enduring steeds.

This tradition, originating in ancient times, remains an integral part of public celebrations in Kyrgyzstan.

The coin's design artistically captures the spirit of this national sport. The obverse features two riders in a swift gallop against the backdrop of a stylized racetrack in the shape of a horseshoe.

The coin also bears the emblem of the World Nomad Games and the inscription "At Chabysh" in both Kyrgyz and English. The coin's denomination is 10 soms.

The reverse continues the horse racing theme, featuring the coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic in the center. The inscription "Дүйнөлүк көчмөндөр оюндары / World Nomad Games" encircles the composition from top to bottom. The technical specifications of the coin — the year of issue (2024), silver fineness (925), and weight (31.10 g) — are indicated on the sides.

Despite its collectible status, the "At Chabysh" coin is an official means of payment in Kyrgyzstan.

This numismatic masterpiece not only commemorates an important cultural event but also serves as a reminder of the rich traditions of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia.

The release of this coin underscores the significance of the World Nomad Games as an event that promotes the preservation and popularization of the region's unique cultural heritage on an international level.
