Kyrgyzstan has become the 176th state to join the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan provided detailed explanations about the advantages this will bring to the country, Economist.kg reports.
Kyrgyzstan's accession to the IMO opens up new opportunities for the development of a transport corridor with access to the world's oceans. As a full-fledged member of the organization, Kyrgyzstan will be able to more effectively integrate into regional logistics chains and develop its own transit potential.
Membership in the organization will also provide access to the "flag of convenience" market, allowing for the registration of maritime vessels under its own flag. This will expand access to advantageous maritime freight transportation, new technologies, training, employment opportunities for citizens in this field, the creation of new jobs, and many other privileges.
"Joining the IMO will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's international authority and national prestige, expand opportunities for promoting and protecting national interests on the international stage, as well as provide new opportunities for integration into the global community and economy," concluded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
