Turkmenistan will continue supplying electricity to Kyrgyzstan until 2026. This was announced by Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy, Taalaybek Ibraev, during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on the fuel and energy complex, subsoil use, and industrial policy (Jogorku Kenesh) of Kyrgyz parliament.
According to him, negotiations are also underway for electricity supplies next year with Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
For 2025, agreements with all these countries are already in place, Ibraev stated, though he did not disclose purchase volumes.
As of 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 3.634 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
Launch of the "Datka – Sugd" Power Line
Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov recently launched the "Datka – Sugd" power transmission line in Khujand, implemented as part of the CASA-1000 project.
This power line will connect the energy systems of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and become part of the CASA-1000 international project for exporting electricity to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Thanks to the peace agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, both republics will be able to sell up to 5 billion kWh of electricity per year to Pakistan. Even by conservative estimates, their annual revenues will exceed $250 million.
