The volume of Kyrgyzstan’s external and mutual trade in goods for January–November 2024 amounted to $14.6 billion, which is 3.7% higher than the same period in 2023. These figures are cited in a report by the National Statistics Committee, Economist.kg reports.
The main driver of growth was a significant increase in exports, which rose by 21.3%. This reflects positive changes in the country’s export potential and efforts to diversify exports. At the same time, import volumes declined by 0.8%.
Despite this, imports still dominate the total trade structure, accounting for 76.4% of the total volume, while exports make up 23.6%.
Additionally, the National Statistics Committee reports that from January to December 2024, the increase in consumer prices and tariffs reached 6.3% compared to December 2023.
The highest price increases were recorded in the following categories:
- Alcoholic beverages and tobacco – prices rose by 11.4%
- Non-food products – increase of 5.1%
- Food products and non-alcoholic beverages – increase of 5.4%
- Service tariffs for the population – growth of 8.1%
In December 2024, consumer prices and tariffs increased in all regions of Kyrgyzstan compared to December 2023. The highest increase was observed in the Issyk-Kul region, where prices rose by 7.7%. This was mainly due to a sharp rise in the cost of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+15.1%) and service tariffs (+10.7%).
Other regions also showed significant price growth. In Bishkek, the highest price increase was recorded in food products and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.7%), while Osh led in non-food product price increases (+8%).
