The Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Tilek Tekebayev, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan, Nury Golliev, discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of transport in Bishkek, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan informed.
Tilek Tekebayev noted that Turkmenistan is a strategic partner for Kyrgyzstan, and his ministry attaches great importance to the development of cooperation in the transport sector.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to transit fees for road transport through the territory of Turkmenistan for Kyrgyz carriers, the possibility of obtaining annual visas, and reducing the cost of visas for Kyrgyz carriers. They also discussed the initiative to abolish the permit system for bilateral transit freight transportation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
Ambassador Golliev, in turn, expressed Turkmenistan's readiness to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in the field of transport, as well as to exchange experience and collaborate on international transport corridors. He also mentioned that the above-mentioned issues would be considered at the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission.
