Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by 13% in a quarter

In January–March of this year, Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 329.1 billion soms ($3.77 billion). This is 13% higher compared to the same period last year, reports Economist.kg.

According to the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the main growth was driven by goods production, services, and revenue from product-related taxes.

Specifically, the sectors producing goods saw a 22% increase, the service sector grew by 8.7%, and net taxes on products rose by 12%.

The largest share in the GDP structure remains the service sector at 51%, though this is 2.9 percentage points less than a year earlier. Meanwhile, the contribution of goods-producing sectors increased to 31.5%.

Growth was observed in industries such as manufacturing and construction - their combined share in the economy rose by 2.2 percentage points. On the other hand, the share of agriculture slightly decreased by 0.4%.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade volume amounted to $2.07 billion, which is 13% less than in the same period last year.

Exports decreased by 4.7%, while imports dropped by 14.6%.

Consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan rose by 1.8% compared to December of the previous year.

The main price increase was seen in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which became 3.4% more expensive.
