Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by almost 9%

Gross domestic product (GDP) in January-March 2024, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 248.8 billion soms ($2.8 billion), showing an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the Minister of Economy, Daniyar Amangeldiyev, Akchabar informs.

The volume of industrial production in January-March amounted to 114.5 billion soms (an increase of 4.5%).

"The growth occurred due to an increase in the production of wood and paper products, printing activities (by 37.1%), refined petroleum products (by 20.3%), food products (including beverages) and tobacco products (by 17.6%), in textile production, clothing and footwear manufacturing, leather and leather products (by 12.8%), pharmaceuticals (by 11.6%), as well as rubber, plastic products, and construction materials (by 4.2%)," Amangeldiyev said.

Positive trends were observed in construction, where volume growth amounted to 53.8%, wholesale and retail trade - 25.2%, as well as in agriculture - 1.4%.

At the end of 2023, it was officially announced that Kyrgyzstan's GDP exceeded 1 trillion soms - $11.2 billion.
