Lavrov discussed bilateral relations and regional security issues in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Russian delegation led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is on a working visit to Samarkand, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan informed.

The meeting participants discussed current issues related to strengthening Uzbek-Russian relations of strategic partnership and alliance in the context of implementing high-level agreements.

They noted the growth in trade turnover - which exceeded $10 billion in 2024 - and in investments, as well as the strengthening of cooperation between regions and leading industrial enterprises. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, more than 3,000 enterprises with Russian participation are currently operating in Uzbekistan, making up 22% of all foreign-capital companies in the country. Russian investments in Uzbekistan’s economy exceed $13 billion.

There are 115 investment projects being implemented with Russian participation, along with 37 projects focused on organizing the supply of various goods. Russian retailers and e-commerce companies - such as Magnit, Ozon, and Wildberries - are expanding their presence in Uzbekistan.

President Mirziyoyev also discussed with Lavrov cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, science, education, healthcare, sports, and tourism, the statement said.

There was also an exchange of views on regional and international issues.
