In Ashgabat, a two-day conference of medical and sanitary institutions, titled "Cooperation of Non-Aligned Movement Member States on Preparedness and Response to Emerging Threats in Public Health," has begun, the online version of the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.
Initiated by Turkmenistan in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the event is being held in a hybrid format with the participation of international experts and specialists from UN partner agencies, as well as representatives of medical and sanitary institutions from foreign countries.
The initiative to hold a special conference was previously announced by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, at the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on Combating COVID-19, which took place in Baku in March 2023.
In his congratulatory address to the conference participants, the head of the Turkmen state expressed firm confidence that this event would play a significant role in coordinating efforts to further strengthen and activate cooperation for the systematic improvement of work in the field of medicine and sanitation.
