Mirziyoyev seeks to increase investment in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a new investment policy and instructed to attract an additional $3 billion of foreign funds by the end of the year.

He also called for speeding up the work of 1.5 thousand projects worth $12.1 billion as part of investment programs. It was ordered to quickly launch the "project" work on the early commissioning of 272 large facilities worth $11.5 billion.

According to the new plans, the authorities of Uzbekistan will introduce a new system of working with investors within the framework of agreements with foreign partners.

In accordance with the tasks set by the president, a new position of “investment manager” will be established in the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan. He will manage projects and negotiate with foreign investors.

Mirziyoyev came up with new initiatives after his approval for the post of Head of State following the results of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan. The elections were held on July 9, in which more than 87% of voters voted for the current President.
