Money transfers from Russia to a number of post-Soviet countries have increased several times.

Record amounts of money from Russia were transferred to countries such as Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Sputnik reports.

357 billion tenge, or about $775.4 million, was sent from Russia to Kazakhstan in 2022, according to data published by the National Bank of Kazakhstan. These are record numbers for an eight-year period.

The volume of money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan at the end of 2022 amounted to $14.5 billion - it increased by 2.6 times over the year.

In January-November last year, individuals sent $2.6 billion to Kyrgyzstan from Russia only through money transfer systems.

One of the reasons for this factor was the increase in purchases abroad of goods that are no longer sold in Russia due to sanctions, writes RBC.

In addition, Russian citizens began to visit the CIS countries more often, including for the purpose of tourism.

The growth in the volume of remittances was also affected by the sending of earned funds by migrants to their homeland.

Earlier it was reported that foreign citizens working in Moscow on labor patents transferred a record amount of taxes to the budget of the Russian capital in 2022.

Compared to 2021, the volume of tax deductions of foreigners increased by 45%.
