Mongolia become closer to Uzbekistan even more

Following negotiations in Tashkent between the Presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, a ceremony was held to sign bilateral documents, as reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The heads of state signed a joint statement on interstate relations and cooperation.

In total, during the state visit, 14 documents were signed, including:

- Intergovernmental program on trade, economic, and investment cooperation for 2024-2026;
- Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in tourism;
- Intergovernmental agreement on air communication;
- Intergovernmental agreement on international road transport;
- Cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2024-2025;
- Protocol on cooperation between the Secretariats of the Security Councils;
- Agreement on cooperation between the Ministries of Agriculture;
- Agreement on cooperation in veterinary and livestock sectors;
- Agreement on scientific cooperation between Academies of Sciences;
- Protocol on cooperation between national news agencies;
- Protocol on cooperation between trade and industrial chambers;
- Protocol on establishing a Joint Business Council;
- Agreement on cooperation between the administrations of Tashkent and Ulan Bator cities.

Following the negotiations, the presidents of both countries made statements to the media.

"Mongolia is our traditional and reliable partner in the Asian region. Uzbek-Mongolian relations are built on principles of friendship, mutual respect, and support, independent of external circumstances," noted the leader of Uzbekistan.

"The first state visit of the President of Mongolia to Uzbekistan rightfully became historical and marked the beginning of a new stage of comprehensive cooperation. I am confident that very soon we will jointly achieve the first practical results of our extensive collaboration," emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev in conclusion.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also announced Uzbekistan's intention to soon open its embassy in Ulan Bator. Earlier reports indicated that during Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh's visit to Tashkent, Mongolia would open its embassy, as reported by the Mongolian agency Montsame.

In combating climate change, desertification, and environmental conservation, Uzbekistan and Mongolia agreed to cooperate in the forestry sector by coordinating Mongolia's national initiative "Billion Trees Movement" with Uzbekistan's national project "Green Space."

Furthermore, Uzbekistan expressed its intention to join the Multilateral Agreement on the establishment of an International Research Center for Landlocked Developing Countries, initiated by Mongolia.

The parties also welcomed the establishment of a legal framework for cooperation in the transport sector through the signing of Intergovernmental Agreements on air communication and international road transport.

The presidents noted that the opening of the "Nura" medical diagnostics center in Tashkent with investments from Mongolian companies is an important contribution to expanding cooperation in the healthcare sector between the two countries.

President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh of Mongolia arrived in Uzbekistan for his first official visit on June 23.
