Between 400 and 500 trucks enter Kazakhstan from Kyrgyzstan every day, Kazinform reports, citing the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.

“25 minutes are provided for the inspection of one truck. From Kyrgyzstan, from 400 to 500 trucks now enter our country every day,” the Kazakh National Security Committee reported.

About 60% of trucks entering the territory of Kazakhstan are in transit to Russia, the Kazakh National Security Committee explained.

In the second half of August, 2023, a significant accumulation of trucks was observed at the Kyrgyz-Kazakh checkpoint, which led to many kilometers of traffic jams in Kyrgyzstan. According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, on August 21, during the half-day operation of the Ak-Tilek checkpoint, only three cars crossed the border.

The issue with the passage of cargo trucks was eased after a special working group of the EEC EAEU visited the checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border from the Kyrgyz side. Later, Kazakhstan officially announced that the accumulation of trucks at the checkpoint was associated with testing a new system for recording transit cargo at the border.
