Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Batken region Abdikarim Alimbaev met with the chairman of the executive power of the Sughd region of Tajikistan Radzhobboy Ahmadzoda. This was reported by the press service of the Administration of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan.

Akims of adjacent districts of Batken and Sughd regions and heads of law enforcement agencies also took part in the bilateral meeting.
The parties discussed the situation at the border over the past month.

It was also noted that the working groups established at the level of two regions will continue to work in these areas.

The director of the border service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Ularbek Sharsheev and the head of the border service of Tajikistan Rajabali Rahmonali also took part in the meeting and held negotiations in their areas.

"The meeting of the parties was primarily aimed at maintaining peace and security in the border areas," the report says.

Negotiations between representatives of local authorities in the border areas of the two countries have been ongoing since the end of 2022, as a result of which the number of border conflicts has decreased. This enables the Working Groups of the special structures of the parties to conduct more fruitful work on resolving disputed sections of the borders between the countries.
