Another meeting of topographic working groups of the government delegations of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the delimitation and demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border took place, "Khovar" reports.

The meeting took place according to the agreement reached, from November 1 to November 8, 2023, in Buston, Sughd Region of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The topographic working groups have agreed on 17.98 km of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border. Following the meeting, a relevant Protocol was signed. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.

The parties will continue their work to describe the remaining sections at the next meeting, which will be held on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The length of the border between the two republics is over 970 km. At present, more than two-thirds of the demarcation line have been agreed upon.

The process of agreeing on disputed sections of the border between the two countries intensified after an armed conflict with the use of heavy equipment at the end of 2022 when the heads of the two countries negotiated face to face. They closely oversee the work of the topographic groups, which are conducting negotiations and coordinating all disputed points in determining the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
