Next negotiations on Syria to take place in the second half of 2024 in Astana

The 22nd International Syria Meeting will take place in Astana in the second half of 2024, Kazinform reports.

This announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakaev, while reading a joint statement at the conclusion of the 21st International Syria Meeting. The latest meeting of the contact groups on Syria concluded its work in Astana.

The 21st round of talks on Syrian settlement began its work on Wednesday in the capital of Kazakhstan.

Iran, Russia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Nations convened for their 21st meeting to discuss the impact of the situation in Gaza on Syria following new Israeli attacks.

At the conclusion of the Syria meeting, its participants issued a joint statement representing Iran, Russia, and Turkey.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Federation delegation, Alexander Lavrentiev, stated that the Astana process should remain the primary platform for resolving the Syrian issue.
