In Kazakhstan, the Akim (head) of the North Kazakhstan Region, Gauyez Nurmukhambetov, reported on the implementation of several major investment projects in the region, including both foreign and domestic initiatives, Kazinform reports.
Qatari company Ultradecor has started construction of a plant for the production of particleboard (DSP) and laminated particleboard (LDP) with an investment of around 90 billion tenge (≈ $818 million). The project is expected to stimulate the development of woodworking and the furniture cluster.
Russian firm Bekerton is launching a confectionery production facility with investments of 37.3 billion tenge (≈ $339 million), creating approximately 380 jobs.
Chinese company QILU Agro is building a facility for manufacturing tractors and agricultural machinery.
Russian company Uralcran is constructing a plant for the production of cranes and lifting equipment with an annual capacity of up to 100 units, fully meeting the local market demand.
Domestic investors are also active in the region. The main investment hub remains the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) “Kyzylzhar,” which currently has 22 registered participants and total investments exceeding 317 billion tenge (≈ $2.88 billion), creating around 4,000 permanent jobs.
Five projects in the SEZ have already been launched, with investments of 28.4 billion tenge (≈ $258 million) and around 700 jobs created. Another 17 projects are under implementation, with total investments of 280.2 billion tenge (≈ $2.55 billion) and plans to create about 3,300 jobs. Investors include companies from Turkey, Italy, China, Germany, Qatar, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
