The main reason for the departure of MacDonalds from Kazakhstan was the difficulty with the supply of meat products and semi-finished products, commented the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. According to him, the vast majority of raw materials for McDonald’s restaurants were supplied by Russia, but this is currently not possible, Kazinform reports.

“In order to deliver products to restaurants, the supplier must have a number of certificates. The quality of the products is important, as well as the quality of the packaging, there are very strict requirements in this part. To meet all the strict requirements, an investor must allocate large funds and invest. However, the market of Kazakhstan is limited, and therefore such large-scale investments will not pay off in the short term,” the prime minister said.

About 2,000 people work in the company's restaurants throughout Kazakhstan. As the head of the Government of Kazakhstan stated, they will not lose their jobs. To do this, you need to open a fast food chain under a different brand.

The same information is published on the official website of McDonald's: "The resumption of activities and the timing of the opening of new fast food restaurants under the new name will be announced in the near future."
