During the first ten months of 2023, the railways of Kyrgyzstan transported 7.4567 million tons of cargo, the Deputy Director-General of the state transport company "Kyrgyz Temir Jolu," Dastan Usubakunov, announced.
For comparison, during the same period in 2022, 6.4741 million tons of cargo were transported, indicating a growth of 982.5 thousand tons.
"The growth is ensured by an increase in imports by 112.1%, as well as an increase in exports by 151.9% compared to the same period in 2022," noted Usubakunov.
The main reasons for the increased volume of freight transportation include the implementation of multimodal corridors such as China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan, China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan, ATR-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey-Europe, the commissioning of 100 freight cars purchased in 2021-2022, and the growth in the volume of population needs.
It is specified that the most significant increase in transportation is observed in the southern division of "Kyrgyz Temir Jolu" due to the opening of new types of export transportation by rail to countries such as Turkey, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, and Hungary.
Today, the first cargo arrived in Bishkek via the direct route Pakistan-China-Kyrgyzstan, delivered by the National Logistics Corporation of Pakistan (NLC).
The head of the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan noted that the opening of new logistics routes will allow businesses to reduce costs and increase the speed of cargo delivery.
