Over 2 years, assets worth 1 trillion tenge returned to Kazakhstan

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alihan Smailov, chaired a meeting of the Commission on the Return of Illegally Acquired Assets to the State, the press service of the Kazakh government reports.

During the meeting, issues related to including new individuals, subject to verification activities, in the relevant registry were discussed. For some individuals previously included in the registry, it is planned to conclude procedural agreements on admitting guilt and voluntary return of illegally acquired assets.

Additionally, lawsuits will be filed to compel the state to convert into income the property of certain subjects of the registry and their affiliated entities.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the President's decision on the return of illegally acquired assets is a continuation of the process of building a "Just Kazakhstan." Over the past two years, assets totaling approximately 1 trillion tenge, equivalent to $2.15 billion, have been returned to the country.

As of today, 344 objects of movable and immovable property have been identified, including 131 objects abroad. Information on securities valued at 448 billion tenge has been obtained. Bank transactions totaling 220 trillion tenge are under scrutiny, including suspicious transactions amounting to 1.4 trillion tenge.

"Our common task is to ensure the return of illegally withdrawn assets and use them for the benefit of society and the state," emphasized Alihan Smailov.

Following the discussions, the Prime Minister issued the necessary instructions to government agencies.
