A meeting was held in the Pakistani capital between the "Pakistan–Turkmenistan" Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Atadjan Movlamov. The talks, chaired by MP Sanjay Perwani, marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties, Orient.tm reports.

The Turkmen side delivered an extensive presentation to the Pakistani parliamentarians, showcasing the republic's economic and export potential. The discussion focused on two primary areas:

  • Transregional Corridors: Participants discussed transport connectivity initiatives aimed at positioning Turkmenistan and Pakistan as key links in trade routes connecting Central and South Asia.
  • Tourism and National Brands: The Ambassador highlighted the country’s tourism opportunities, unique natural landscapes, and the Akhal-Teke horses—a symbol of national pride for the Turkmen people.

The head of the Pakistani friendship group, Sanjay Perwani, emphasized that inter-parliamentary interaction must serve as a practical tool for rapprochement.

"Our friendship groups are a 'living bridge' between our legislative bodies. We intend to move beyond protocol meetings toward regular delegation exchanges and strengthening direct people-to-people contacts," Perwani noted.

Experts view this activation of parliamentary dialogue as a necessary political foundation ahead of launching large-scale regional energy and infrastructure projects.
