The highway in Tajikistan through the mountains, called the Pamir Highway, entered the top three in the rating of the most beautiful roads on the planet, compiled by Rating-Avto (rating-avto.ru), Avesta reports.
The first place in the ranking went to the motorway running over the Vernon Gorge in France, 25 km long. The maximum height of the track above the gorge is 700 meters, and the beauty of the road is in no way inferior to the Arizona canyon, especially in the warm season, when the slopes are abundantly covered with vegetation, receding only before the steepest slopes.
The total length of the gorge is just over 100 km, but it will take almost the whole day to overcome them. The landscape here is truly amazing, and the route runs through man-made and natural tunnels and is replete with bends, descents and ascents.
In second place is the Dalton Highway - one of the most beautiful roads in Alaska, and maybe the United States. Although you can’t call this road a highway - here asphalt is present only in a couple of cities, and this is 666 km away! The rest is primer.
The top 3 most beautiful roads in the world are closed by the Pamir Highway - the highest mountain dirt road on the planet, connecting the Tajik city of Khorog with the Kyrgyz city of Osh. The road passes through several passes, the lowest of which, Taldyk, is located at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level, and the Akbaital pass (4650 meters) is adjacent to the top point of the "roof of the world", as the Pamirs have been called since ancient times.
According to Rating-Auto, the top ten roads in the world also included: Transfagaras highway (Romania), Chuysky truck (Altai), Atlantic road (Norway), Tianmen (China), Route 40 (Argentina), Great Ocean Road (Australia) and the Great Circle (Colorado, USA).
