Uzbekistan exported carpets to 18 countries in the amount of $42.1 mln in 2021. Exports increased by $12.8 mln compared to 2020, the Dunyo portal reports.
Uzbek carpet weavers are working more hardly in 2022. In January-October, enterprises of Uzbekistan produced 28.3 million square meters of carpets. According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the growth rate in relation to the corresponding period of 2021 amounted to more than 110%.
However, during the year the volume of exports decreased. Uzbekistan exported carpets totaling $26.6 mln in 2022. Sales of carpets abroad decreased by $4.2 mln compared to the same period last year.
Most of all, this type of product was imported from Uzbekistan by Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Last year, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, the United States, Armenia and Turkey were also among the buyers.
