On December 1, a meeting between the co-chairs of the governmental delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Kamchybek Tashiev and Saimumin Yatimov, took place in the city of Buston, Sughd region, AKIpress reports.

Following the negotiations, the heads of the governmental delegations made a statement.

Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, stated that several fundamental decisions on the border issue have been made. "The decisions we made today bring us closer to solving the main issue regarding the border. The next meeting will take place in Batken, and a decision will also be made there. Our state commissions are working non-stop. I think we are very close to achieving a 'comprehensive solution,'" he said.

The head of the GKNB of Tajikistan, Saimumin Yatimov, announced that the negotiations were successful, and a fundamental decision was reached on two main issues.

"First of all, this concerns the Vorukh-Khoja Alo road, regarding this main issue, we consider the matter practically resolved. The second issue is the objects used by Tajikistan on the territory of Kyrgyzstan and those used by Kyrgyzstan on the territory of Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan will have access to the objects it uses on the territory of Tajikistan, but the land remains with Tajikistan. The same principle will be applied by Tajikistan to its objects in Kyrgyzstan," he said.

"These are very important strategic directions of our activities for which we have achieved concrete results. Therefore, the fact of fixing this issue through the media and announcing it to the public is a crucial event. We are closer to resolving the main issue. Simultaneously, our negotiations are leading to the demarcation of the state border to eliminate other disputes in this regard," Yatimov emphasized.

He also reported that similar and equivalent measures have been taken for the Tort-Kocho section. The parties will use it as they did in the case of the Vorukh-Khoja Alo direction.
