Kazakhstan will soon initiate comprehensive reforms that will make the country's economy more transparent, resilient, and dynamic, announced President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Interfax reports.
"Alongside political transformations, we are strengthening our market-oriented and competitive economy, which I consider a necessary condition for success. Today, I can confidently inform you that significant and fundamental reforms will soon begin in Kazakhstan, making our economy more transparent, resilient, and dynamic," said Tokayev, speaking at the "Kazakhstan-Italy" investment roundtable in Rome.
The president's words were provided in a statement by his press service.
"Our goal is to bring the standards, rules, and business practices in Kazakhstan to the level of the OECD. We aim to create an investment climate that meets the highest global standards," emphasized the President of Kazakhstan.
"Last year, we recorded economic growth at a rate of 5.1%, which is almost twice the projected global figure. In the medium term, we set ourselves the strategic goal of achieving growth of 6-7%, which will allow us to double the size of the economy by 2029," Tokayev said, adding that "this requires the implementation of extensive reforms."
