President of Kazakhstan convenes first session of new six-party parliament

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on convening the first session of the Parliament of Kazakhstan of the eighth convocation, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

"Call the first session of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the eighth convocation on March 29, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the city of Astana," the text of the decree says.

Elections of deputies of the new parliament of Kazakhstan took place on March 19. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Nurlan Abdirov announced the results of the vote count.

The pro-presidential party Amanat received 40 mandates,

- "Auyl" party - 8 mandates,

- Respublica Party - 6 mandates,

- "Ak Zhol" party - 6 mandates,

- NPC - 5 mandates,

- Positioning itself as an opposition party OSDP - 4 mandates.

According to the results of the elections, the Baytak party, which did not overcome the required threshold of 5% of the votes, does not get into the Mazhilis.

In addition, another 29 deputies were elected from single-member constituencies. As a result, another 22 people from single-mandate constituencies get into the parliament of Kazakhstan from the pro-government Amanat party. And in total, the Amanat party receives 62 mandates.

In total, deputies from 6 parties and 7 deputies elected in single-mandate constituencies as a result of self-nomination will sit in the parliament.
