President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov emphasized the need to increase electricity exports and the capacity of the country's energy sector. This information was revealed after the latest meeting of the Turkmenistan government, the Turkmenistan State News Agency TDH reports.

"It is necessary to increase the capacities of the energy sector and electricity exports. We should accelerate the construction of interregional and internal roads, as well as the reconstruction of existing ones," stated the head of the state.

Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Annamammedov reported that for the first two months of the current year, the plan for production and completed work in the construction and industrial sectors of the country was exceeded by 17.2%. The Ministry of Energy reported exceeding the plan by 12.4%.

The State Concern "Turkmenhimiya" produced 43.7% more products than planned. Road construction works were completed at 9.8%.

In recent years, Turkmenistan has actively increased the production and export of electricity, turning this sector into one of the priority directions for the development of the national economy. Thanks to the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, the construction of new power plants, and the modernization of existing capacities, the country has significantly increased electricity generation. This has not only fully met the internal needs of industry and the population but also enabled active electricity exports to neighboring states.

Turkmenistan currently supplies electricity to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Iran. The export volumes show consistent growth year by year. According to the International Energy Agency, in 2022, Turkmenistan's electricity exports increased by 30% compared to the previous year.
