In Astana, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev solemnly presented Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the country's highest state award, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
"As part of the program of his stay in Astana, a ceremony of awarding the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Altyn Kyran (Golden Eagle) Order of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held," the report said.
Tokayev emphasized that in Kazakhstan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is known and respected as a true leader of the Uzbek people, a politician of international significance, an outstanding statesman who has made an invaluable contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
"Thanks to a trusting political dialogue, we are dynamically developing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, closely interacting within the framework of key international structures. In a word, modern Kazakh-Uzbek relations are exemplary and truly fraternal," Tokayev said.
In response, Mirziyoyev thanked his Kazakh counterpart on behalf of the multinational people of Uzbekistan. According to him, such a high award is an assessment of joint efforts to strengthen the centuries-old ties of true friendship and good neighborliness of the two peoples, as well as recognition of common aspirations to bring relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to a new historical level - strategic partnership and alliance.
Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Tajikistan Emamoli Rahmon also arrived in Astana. The President of Turkmenistan is expected to arrive. They will take part in the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, as well as in a meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida as part of the next Central Asia-Japan meeting, scheduled for August 9, 2024 in Astana.
