President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin in Astana. During the meeting, Tokayev praised UEFA’s support and attention to the country, Zakon.kz reported.
According to data published on the Akorda Telegram channel, over 1 million Kazakh citizens—13% of all people engaged in sports in the country—participate in football.
The head of state emphasized the importance of forming a sustainable market-based business model in domestic football and improving club management.
Tokayev also expressed support for UEFA’s implementation of educational and exchange programs aimed at raising the professional level of specialists and young players.
In response, Aleksander Čeferin expressed readiness to expand the partnership with Kazakhstan.
He noted that there is already close cooperation between UEFA and the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
In addition, Tokayev awarded Čeferin the “Dostyk” Order, 2nd Class, for his contribution to the development of sports in Kazakhstan.
