The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Germany, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during the talks in Astana, noted the importance of intensifying cooperation in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), as well as in the field of oil and gas, the press service of the President of the Kazakh President.
Steinmeier arrived on a state visit to Kazakhstan the day before at the invitation of Tokayev. At the meeting on Tuesday, the presidents discussed the state and prospects for the development of the Kazakh-German strategic partnership. The interlocutors paid special attention to strengthening the political dialogue, deepening cooperation in trade, economic, investment, energy, transport and logistics areas.
"The importance of intensifying interaction within the framework of the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of oil and gas, green energy and industry was emphasized," the message says.
Tokayev and Steinmeier exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
"Tete-a-tete talks were held in a friendly manner, were constructive and substantive. Agreements were reached to increase cooperation in a number of areas of the bilateral economic agenda," the press service noted.
The TITR, also known as the "Middle Corridor", runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and the Black Sea further to Europe. The TMTM Association includes 20 companies, including railway administrations, ports, shipping and other transport companies from eight countries.
