Presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Hold Unplanned Working Meeting in Cholpon-Ata

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov held an unplanned working meeting in the city of Cholpon-Ata, located in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Region, to discuss the outcomes of recent reciprocal state visits and key aspects of bilateral relations, Asiaplus.tj reports.

According to the press service of the President of Tajikistan, the two leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the current state and future prospects of Tajik-Kyrgyz relations, emphasizing friendship, good neighborliness, and cooperation. Special attention was given to enhancing trade and economic ties, as well as advancing the process of demarcating the state border between the two countries.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues.

President Rahmon paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on March 13–14, 2025. That visit concluded with the signing of 16 cooperation agreements, including the landmark Treaty on the State Border between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

In response, President Japarov visited Tajikistan on July 8–9. During that trip, the sides signed a Confidence-Building Measures Agreement along with 14 other documents, and issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership.
