The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will play a big role in the development of not only Uzbekistan, but also the entire Central Asia. First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Zhasurbek Choriev said this at the III Tashkent Investment Forum, which is taking place these days in the capital of Uzbekistan, Akchabar reports.
The topic of railway construction was raised on the first day of the forum as part of the panel session “Investment projects in infrastructure”.
In general, the session was dedicated to the important achievements of Uzbekistan in improving the road, railway and air infrastructure.
Among other projects, there are only six PPP investment projects with a total estimated investment volume of $18 billion, the deputy minister told the session participants about the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
“This will be a railway that will play a big role in the development of not only Uzbekistan, but also the whole of Central Asia. Basic agreements on the project have already been reached. Its cost is about $5.1 billion, and the length is expected to be 454 km,” said the First Deputy Minister of Transport.
