Problems of migrants discussed by Tajikistan and Russia

The Minister of Labor, Migration, and Population Employment of Tajikistan, Gulnora Khasanzoda, held negotiations with the Deputy Minister of Labor and Employment of Russia, Elena Mukhtiyarova, in Moscow, Avesta reported.

The main topic of the meeting was the progress of implementing agreements reached during the meeting of co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan - Vice Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin and the country's Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda, regarding labor migration.

In addition, the parties discussed the following topics:

  • The implementation of an agreement between the governments of the two countries on the organized attraction of citizens of Tajikistan for temporary work in the territory of Russia.
  • The preparation of labor migrants before their trip, improvement of their vocational education in institutions of initial vocational education and adult learning centers, considering the requirements of the Russian labor market, and the possibility of their professional training by Russian employers.

Since 2019, an agreement has been in effect between Tajikistan and Russia regarding the organized attraction of citizens of Tajikistan for temporary labor activity in Russia.

A "roadmap" was also signed, which includes specific measures for implementing the agreements.

In Tajikistan, there is a representative office of the "Passport and Visa Service" of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for conducting medical examinations, fingerprinting, tests on knowledge of the Russian language, history, and legislation of Russia.

Conditions have been created to attract citizens of Tajikistan to work in industrial, agricultural, and construction enterprises in Russia, according to the agency's report.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the ministers expressed readiness for continuous strengthening of cooperation in these areas and the development of bilateral relations.
