Termiz Gold Production LLC, a jewelry manufacturer located in the Termez International Trade Center free economic zone, has begun processing raw gold imported from Afghanistan, Uza.uz reports.

In this regard, I. Gulomov, Head of the Surkhandarya Regional Customs Department, met with company executives and representatives of an Afghan gold mining company to exchange views on the placement of raw materials under the customs processing regime and its advantages.

At the meeting, it was noted that this will play a significant role in enhancing regional industrial potential, developing the jewelry industry, and increasing export volumes.

According to the information service of the Regional Customs Department, the project is being implemented at the initiative of the regional administration and the leadership of the Customs Committee. Thanks to this initiative, favorable conditions have been created in the Surkhandarya region for processing raw gold, which was previously transported from Afghanistan to other countries only in transit. Gold is now processed within the region's customs territory to produce semi-finished jewelry for subsequent export as high-value-added products.

At the initial stage of the project, 20 kilograms of raw gold, worth $2.9 million, were sent for processing.
