The production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan has increased by 29.8%, Kazinform reports.
The auto industry in Kazakhstan continues to suffer this year from the shortage of microchips, coronavirus restrictions and the resulting disruption of supply chains, which were exacerbated by the geopolitical crisis in Europe. The production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in some countries has not yet returned to the levels of 2021, and compared to the “pre-corona crisis” 2019, most auto-producing countries are in a noticeable minus.
The production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan shows strong growth this year. Compared to the nine months of 2021, production increased by 29.8%, and if compared with the same period of the “pre-corona crisis” 2019, by 2.4 times.
Compared to 2019, car production also increased in Uzbekistan (by 23.7%) and in China, which remains the leader in the industry (by 8.2%).
Sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the world almost approached the figures of the previous year, amounting to 59.5 million cars in January-September 2022, which is only 2% less. Compared to the “pre-corona crisis” 2019, sales are still 11.1% lower. Auto sales in the United States in January-September of the current year compared to the same period in 2019 turned out to be 20.2% less, in Japan - by 24.5%, and in Western Europe - by 31.9% at once. In Russia, sales in 2022 decreased compared to 2019 by 60.1%.
In China, positive dynamics is shown not only by the production of cars, but also by their sales. Compared to January-September 2019, dealers in China sold 6.9% more new cars this year.
In Kazakhstan, sales immediately increased by 67.6% compared to the “pre-corona crisis” 2019, primarily due to an increase in production and the share of domestic cars in sales, as well as due to the entry of new brands into the Kazakhstani market.
Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan plans to increase the production of cars up to 135,000 units per year.
