A Round Table on the topic "Central Asia: Global Processes and Sustainable Development of the Region" took place in Tashkent at the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), Sputnik reports.
Experts from leading analytical centers in Uzbekistan and Russia exchanged opinions on issues related to ensuring the socio-economic development of the region's states in modern conditions.
"Starting from 2017, the Central Asian region has undergone fundamental changes, acquiring stability, unity, and international subjectivity," stated Sherzod Fayziev, the Deputy Director of IICAS.
The main driver of these positive changes has been the new foreign policy course of Tashkent, initiated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to Fayziev.
"Implementing this policy allowed for the resolution of a significant number of accumulated problems that had hindered the development and cooperation of Central Asian countries for many years," Fayziev claims.
As an example, he mentioned the trade between the countries in the region, which grew by more than 2.5 times, the five-fold increase in the number of joint ventures, and a four-fold increase in mutual visits.
The event was organized by IICAS and the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics at the Russian National Research University "Higher School of Economics."
