Relations between Tashkent and Ashgabat are already at level of strategic partnership

Relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have recently reached an unprecedented level. The countries are strategic partners, said the message of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the head of the upper house of the parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.

"In recent years, our close good neighborly relations have risen to a high level of strategic partnership," Mirziyoyev wrote. "Our mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan has reached an unprecedented level," the Uzbek President believes. He stressed that the Turkmen people are "a truly fraternal and kindred people for the Uzbek nation."

The leader of Uzbekistan noted the participation of Berdimuhamedov in the Samarkand summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held on November 11. "Undoubtedly, this will bring Turkmenistan closer to the Turkic world and our organization, will serve to even wider participation of the Turkmen people in its activities," Mirziyoyev stressed.

The Organization of Turkic States is an interstate organization created to expand the interaction of Turkic-speaking countries in the fields of politics, economics, science, education, transport and tourism. Members of the OTS are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Hungary and Turkmenistan have observer status in the organization.
