The volume of international reserves of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan at the end of August 2024 amounted to $4 billion 130 million 490 thousand, reports Economist.kg.
In August of this year, the reserves increased by $142 million 540 thousand, which is a historic maximum. Previously, at the end of July 2023, the reserves amounted to $3 billion 988 million.
It is important to note that during August, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted two currency interventions, during which $111 million 450 thousand was sold.
In recent years, the reserves of the NBKR reached $3 billion several times, but afterward, they decreased.
However, for several months now, there has been a steady growth in the volume of foreign exchange reserves, with reductions occurring quite rarely. For example, in November 2023, the reserves amounted to $3 billion 62 million, meaning that over the course of a year, they increased by more than $1 billion.
As of the end of 2023, the gold and foreign currency reserves of Kazakhstan were $35.96 billion, Uzbekistan's were $34.56 billion, and Tajikistan's were $3.1 billion.
