The heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries decided to establish an anti-drug center in Dushanbe at the summit in Astana. This was reported to TASS by Tajikistan's national coordinator for the organization, Ahmad Saidmurodzoda.
"Final agreement has been reached on the creation of the SCO anti-drug center in Dushanbe as an independent body," he said.
As emphasized by Saidmurodzoda, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, in his speech at the summit, noted that "the government of the country will create all necessary conditions for the effective operation of this structure."
The initiative to create the SCO Anti-Drug Center was proposed by the President of Tajikistan in 2020.
Following the SCO summit in Astana, the leaders of the countries signed the Astana Declaration. According to the document, the regional anti-terrorist structure will be transformed into a center that will respond promptly to threats.
Additionally, the declaration highlights the commitment of all SCO participants to a fair multipolar world order.
