The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in a joint statement, called for the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, stressing that the participation of all ethnic and political groups is essential for lasting peace and stability, Khaama.com reports.

The two-day SCO summit in Tianjin brought together leaders from more than 20 countries. Notably, representatives of the Taliban were absent, underscoring the ongoing diplomatic challenges surrounding Afghanistan.

Member states emphasized the need for an independent and neutral Afghan government, free from terrorism, conflict, and drug trafficking. They warned that without broad political representation, Afghanistan risks remaining isolated from regional platforms.

The SCO reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting peace and development in Afghanistan, as well as international efforts aimed at ensuring stability in the region.

The organization includes Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Uzbekistan. Belarus joined in 2024, while Afghanistan and Mongolia remain observer states.
