President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of the republic in connection with the situation in Russia.

"During the event, the head of state heard reports from the prime minister, the prosecutor general, the chairman of the National Security Committee, the ministers of defense, internal affairs, and foreign affairs on measures to fulfill instructions in connection with the situation in the Russian Federation," the press service of the President of Kazakhstan reports.

What happened in Russia is its internal affair, but in Kazakhstan they perceived the situation in a friendly country, with which the republic has the longest border in the world, with concern. Tokayev pointed out that Russia is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan, the report said.

Tokayev recalled that in a telephone conversation with President Vladimir Putin, he supported the measures of the Russian authorities to restore constitutional order and ensure the safety of citizens. "Kprezilen Tokayev welcomed the agreement on the cessation of hostilities," the press service said.

The President of Kazakhstan called the principle of the rule of law, which underlies the maintenance of public order and socio-economic development, the main priority of the domestic policy of any country, including his state, TASS reports.

In addition, the meeting noted the need to ensure financial and economic stability in Kazakhstan, as well as the security of the country's citizens. Tokayev instructed the heads of all departments to be ready to respond to possible threats of crisis situations. Following the meeting of the Security Council, the President of Kazakhstan approved the operational plan of action developed by the government.
