Uzbekistan and Qatar have adopted a solid package of documents for the development of cooperation, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, after official high-level talks in Tashkent, held a ceremony of signing 15 bilateral documents aimed at further developing trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres of cooperation.
In particular, the following have been adopted:
- an agreement between governments on the mutual encouragement and protection of investments;
- an agreement between governments on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and property;
- an agreement between governments on mutual assistance in customs matters;
- an agreement between governments on cooperation in the field of labor relations;
- an agreement between governments on exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports;
- memorandum between governments on cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research;
- a memorandum between governments on cooperation in the field of culture;
- memorandum on trade cooperation;
- memorandum on cooperation in the field of agriculture and food security;
- memorandum of cooperation in the field of plant protection and quarantine;
- memorandum of cooperation in the field of sports and youth support;
- memorandum of cooperation between Tashkent and Doha.
In addition, the parties signed cooperation programs through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice for 2023-2025, as well as an agreement to create a joint platform for financing priority investment projects.
Earlier it was reported that citizens of Qatar will be able to stay in Uzbekistan for a month without a visa. The decree was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.
The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is on an official visit to the countries of Central Asia and began his first official meetings in Uzbekistan. Then he will pay a visit to Kyrgyzstan.
On June 6, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Kyrgyzstan. The Emir of Qatar at the Manas airport in Bishkek was met by President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov.
At the end of his Central Asian tour, the Emir of Qatar will pay a visit to Kazakhstan, where he will take part in the Astana Economic Forum with the participation of a number of heads of state.
