Five solar and one wind power station in six regions of Uzbekistan have been commissioned and connected to the grid. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who participated in the ceremonial event, emphasized that favorable conditions have been created in recent years for the development of activities in the private sector and leading foreign companies in the industry. Projects to expand Uzbekistan's renewable energy capacity are successfully carried out with their participation.
In particular, solar power stations with a total capacity of 200 megawatts in the Karmaninsky and Nurabadsky districts were commissioned for the first time entirely through direct foreign investments under the terms of public-private partnerships. These stations, up to the present time, have generated 1 billion kilowatt-hours of "green" energy, the Uzbek media reports.
Emirati company "Masdar" completed the implementation of projects to build three modern photovoltaic stations in the Jizzakh, Samarkand, and Surkhandarya regions, with a total capacity of 900 megawatts. In the Tamdyn district of the Navoi region, the first phase of a wind power station with a capacity of 500 megawatts has been constructed.
Additionally, in the Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions, the Chinese company "China Gezhouba Group" completed the construction of the first phase of two solar stations with a total capacity of 1000 megawatts.
It is noteworthy that the construction work was completed in a record short time—just nine months.
As a result of the full implementation of these projects with a total cost of 2 billion dollars, two million households will have uninterrupted access to electricity. This will also enable saving 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas and contribute to the production of industrial goods and services worth 4 billion dollars.
