The aircraft that the Afghan military transferred to Uzbekistan in August 2021 during the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan will now be officially based in Uzbekistan, said US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, Kun.uz reports.

"It will be in Uzbekistan. Yes, it is already official," Henick said.

The US Ambassador noted that these planes and helicopters have always been the property of the United States. The Afghan military used them, but the equipment never belonged to them.

According to Afghan media, there were 164 aircraft in the country before the withdrawal of the American contingent. Currently, only 81 aircraft remain there. Afghan pilots were able to ferry 22 military aircraft and 24 military helicopters to Uzbekistan. Among them were Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano, UH-60 Black Hawk, MD-530 and Mi-17 models.
