The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in the USA will provide assistance to the American aerospace company SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, in solving issues related to the implementation of high-speed satellite internet Starlink in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced during a meeting between representatives of the embassy and the company, Economist.kg reports.
During the meeting on March 19, 2024, in Washington, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the USA and Canada, Baktybek Amanbayev, and the Director of Global Licensing and Activation at SpaceX, Rebecca Hunter, discussed the provision of high-speed internet from space to the people of Kyrgyzstan.
Bilateral negotiations with the American company began two years ago. During the meeting, Rebecca Hunter provided information on the progress made so far.
She then discussed the problems that arose during the implementation of the project and presented her proposals for their solution.
In turn, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan noted the fruitful cooperation between the embassy and SpaceX, promising to work together and strive to achieve the set goal.
The parties also agreed to further discuss the issues faced by SpaceX during the project implementation.
Representatives of SpaceX visited Kyrgyzstan in June 2021. The parties discussed the opening of a Starlink representative office in Kyrgyzstan. The network was planned to be launched in 2023, but for unknown reasons, the launch was postponed for another year. It is expected that Starlink will be launched in Kyrgyzstan in the current year, 2024.
