At their 6th meeting, special representatives of Central Asian countries and the European Union for Afghanistan discussed the current situation in the country in Dushanbe, Avesta.tj reports.
The participants exchanged views on socio-economic and political developments in Afghanistan since their last meeting in February 2024, as well as on the approaches of Central Asian countries and the EU to providing assistance to Afghanistan.
They also focused on the human rights situation, particularly the rights of women and girls, as well as on security challenges and threats.
Before this multilateral meeting, Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the EU’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Tomas Niklasson. The two held a productive exchange of views on issues related to the situation in Afghanistan, as well as cooperation in addressing contemporary threats and challenges.
