Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with his Chinese counterpart Yue Xiaoyun, Sputnik reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the special representatives of the two countries discussed the work on the peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the country.
In particular, they stressed the importance of implementing various infrastructure projects in Afghanistan in the energy, transport and logistics sectors.
The special representatives noted that without developing a consolidated position of the world community in relation to the new authorities of Afghanistan, it is impossible to resolve the acute social and humanitarian crisis, as well as promote the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the country. The initiative to develop a joint position on Afghanistan, led by the new government in the person of the Taliban, was put forward by Uzbekistan.
Special Representative of China Yue Xiaoyun already had negotiations about Afghanistan with Turkmenistan officials in Ashgabad.
