Negotiations between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Germany ended in Astana. The Federal President of Germany arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit and held talks with the officials of Kazakhstan. Following the results of bilateral negotiations in narrow and expanded formats, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier addressed the media, the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan reports.

We are concerned about the political and economic tensions in the world. Of course, all problems must be resolved peacefully for the benefit of people and future generations, Tokayev said after the talks.

He also pointed out that Kazakhstan... called on the conflicting parties for peace. "Our country offered them a neutral platform for negotiations. Kazakhstan is ready to actively participate in resolving conflicts through diplomacy," Tokayev stressed.

It was also said that Kazakhstan is the main partner of Germany in Central Asia. Kazakhstan accounts for 83% of Germany's trade with the countries of the region.
In 2022, the volume of mutual trade amounted to about $10 billion. Kazakhstan is one of the 50 key economic partners of Germany, as well as the top four countries for the supply of oil to this country.

Tokayev pointed out that 226 thousand ethnic Germans now live in Kazakhstan, and over 1 million former Kazakhs live in Germany. This is a "golden bridge" that strengthens friendship between our peoples. We intend to deepen cooperation in this area, the President of Kazakhstan said.

Relationships based on the "raw materials in exchange for technology" formula will be effective for both sides, Tokayev said.

Kazakhstan can provide the German economy with energy and the necessary raw materials, which is especially important in the current difficult geopolitical and geo-economic period, Tokayev said in conclusion.

Agreeing on the data on the relations between the two countries, German Federal President Steinmeier said that with his visit to Kazakhstan, he wanted to pay tribute to the diverse relations between the two countries and convey the message that Germany wants, in the current tense international situation, a larger and closer partnership with Kazakhstan and states of Central Asia.

He also noted the opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
